Complete Background Check

Welcome to being a Pack 461 Leader!!! We thank you for serving your community! We are excited about the future and leadership is the foundation supporting the planning, communication, and programs to lead and engage a thriving pack! Below are details on registration with Pack 461. Please complete this as soon as possible! Any dues paid to register with BSA National will be reimbursed by our pack or you can make a donation.

Registration Process:

  1. Register* as an Adult Leader with our Pack through BSA National through Boy Scouts of America

    1. *IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you have a Scoutbook account with my.scouting.org, please use that same log-in information to register as a pack leader. If you don't use your current account, then you will be assigned a new BSA number. This is problematic and will require back-end work to merge accounts, which is not always successful.

    2. Your submitted registration is then automatically forwarded to our Charter Organization Representative for final approval.  There is no action step for you in this process.

    3. After you finish registering you will have made a my.scouting account and can move on to step #2.

  2. Complete required trainings through my.scouting.org

    1. After you finish registering you will have made a my.scouting account. Go to my.scout.org and log in to your account. Go to “Menu > My Training"

    2. Complete three required trainings::

      1. Youth Protection Training (Total time: 72m)

      2. In Training Program Courses (Total time: 83m)

      3. Depending on your role, either Cub Scout Den Leader/Assistant or Pack Committee Member Training (Total time: 45m)

  3. Complete the three-step background check process

    1. The three part background process can be found on the Western Los Angeles County Council  website. The steps include:

      1. Complete the Required State Mandated Reporter Training (Total time: 2 hours). Save a copy of the completed certificate.

      2. Upload the completed Mandated Reporter Certificate and Background Check Consent Form.

      3. Complete the Live Scan Background Check (AKA CA Fingerprint) for WEST LOS ANGELES COUNTY COUNCIL (WLACC).

        1. Important: Ensure you are scanned for West Los Angeles County Council (WLACC). If you get scanned for the Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) it may not transfer.

        2. Options for completion on the website, addition:

          1. For easier convenience, Dave @ 310.437.3376 will come directly to your home.

          2. He knows the drill and will have all the forms ready.

    2. The pack will reimburse $20 of your background check fee or you can make a donation.
